We are looking for a Lead Systems Engineer for one of our most important clients. This is a remote and contractor position. Candidates can be located in Mexico or anywhere in LATAM.

Position Overview

We seek a Lead Systems Engineer who loves working with people and solving complex problems. They are motivated by driving results and pushing the engineering team to excel in all aspects of the company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems integration, networking, industrial computing, experience in both hardware and software components and management of people. They should also have an understanding of computer vision, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

The candidate will be responsible for directing, building, maintaining, and improving the companys systems. They will manage a development team, and technical requirements, help remove technical blockers, and act as a technical bridge between the product manager, remote monitoring team, and engineering team. They will also lead the way for deployment, installation, and audit support.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the audit and installation team to address rig-specific issues
• Deploy and maintain explosion-proof smart camera systems in industrial environments.
• Configure and manage containers and virtual machine infrastructure
• Implement and maintain network infrastructure, including PoE switches and industrial networking
• Set up and manage video recording systems and data historians
• Configure and maintain industrial firewall systems
• Develop and maintain data integration pipelines between various industrial systems
• Create and optimize data visualization dashboards
• Monitor system health and implement preventive maintenance
• Implement security best practices across all system components
• Support cloud infrastructure deployment and maintenance
• Troubleshoot complex system issues across multiple components
• Management of the engineering team and vendors

Required Technical Skills

• Extensive experience
• Strong Linux administration skills (Ubuntu Server/Desktop)
• Network infrastructure configuration and troubleshooting
• Industrial networking protocols (MQTT, ModBus, OPC-UA)
• Virtual machine and containers management and deployment (Dockers, Kubernetes, Proxmox)
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles
• Experienced
• Understanding of computer vision concepts
• Dataflow and post-processing management (NodeRed)
• Database administration (PostgreSQL with TimeScaleDB)
• Python programming and scripting
• Familiarity with visualization platforms (Grafana)
• Version control with Git
• Familiarity or willingness to learn
• Experience with camera systems (AXIS preferred)
• Experience with monitoring systems (Zabbix)
• Managing AWS cloud infrastructure (Terraform)

Preferred Qualifications

• 8+ years of technical experience
• 2+ years of management experience
• No criminal record
